Colorado Rockies vs San Diego Padres (-108, 8)
Jon Gray of the Rockies and Eric Lauer f0r the Padres take the bump tonight in a divisional matchup of the two bottom teams of the NL West. Gray has a 4.03 ERA/4.15 FIP/1.39 WHIP thus far on the season. The last start was a rough one for Gray, as he gave up four earned in the first inning. He did follow that up with four scoreless innings directly after the first. Gray is an interesting pitcher to try to understand and handicap. His numbers are very similar on the road as they are home which is odd considering the hitter’s park of Coors, plus he has shown to be inconsistent in the past. Gray has a 12% walk rate against lefties and a 6.5% walk rate against righties. Padres are predominately a right-handed team
Lauer for the Padres is another guy posting solid numbers on the season with a 4.43 ERA/4.01 FIP/1.34 WHIP. The Rockies have gotten the best of him this season but both those games were in Coors. This time around at home, I give him the upper hand. Lauer only gave up 2 runs in 6 innings the last start to a hot Dodgers team.
The Rockies just lost 2 straight in ugly fashion against Astros and sit seven games back out of the Wild Card with seven teams in front of them. I just don’t see where the motivation will come from being on the road tonight, and I don’t see the Rockies having an offensive outpour against a below-average team (and against a good pitcher). I like Jon Gray to have a stellar performance and the play here is the first 5 under as I do not trust the Rockies’ pen.

Top pick of the day-
A full slate of NFL Preseason football!! Tonight, I would only play 3-4 games top and keep the volume low. It is preseason and there will be a majority of players playing in the 4th quarter who will not even be in the NFL come two weeks, so tread lightly.
Panthers vs Bears (-3, 36)
It sounds like the Bears won’t play their starters a lot or even at all tonight. This is from reporters in Chicago who have been covering Matt Nagy in camp. Cam Newton will be out sitting out of this one but Kyle Allen and Will Grier will get most of the snaps in this game. Chase Daniels also is on the depth chart for the Bears who has plenty of NFL experience as a back-up and will back up Tyler Bray tonight.
I see plenty of points being scored in this one with decent QB play. Bears should have most their 1st team defense out and Luke Kuechly isn’t suiting up either. Expect 14 points in the 4th quarter to send this one over 36 and the Panthers winning 21-17.
Pick – Over 36
Three other leans I have for tonight are
