Nationals (-115, 8.5) vs Giants
Anibal Sanchez will head to the hill for the Nationals as they face Conner Menez and the Giants. Menez made his debut on July 21st and looked decent against the Mets.
Anibal Sanchez comes into to this game with a 3.80 ERA/4.51 FIP/1.34 WHIP in his 106 innings of work. He has faced some tougher offenses in his last few starts and hasn’t been as dominant as he has throughout the season. I wouldn’t overlook his accomplishments this season after coming back from his surgery.
Conner Menez posted good numbers in AAA but I am still not sold, and after having a look at him at the major league level last start, the Nationals bats should be able to jump on him. Again, he looked good the last start, but I am not going to totally buy that successful start. The Giants and Nationals are both in dire need of wins to stay in the Wild Card race and tonight, the Nationals will come up on top tonight.
Pick- Nationals -115
Braves vs Twins (-150, 10)
Tonight’s game has Mike Foltynewicz and Jose Berrios on the bump for their respective teams. Foltynewicz is brought back up from AAA, so it will be interesting how he responds from pitching down in the minors. In 51.1 innings, he has a 3.86 ERA/3.25 FIP/1.42 WHIP and is basically right in the middle of all pitchers in the MLB if you were to rank them all.
Jose Berrios – @JOLaMaKina – had arguably his best start of 2019 as he dominated MIA for 7 IP before being pulled with 81 pitches (likely due to the Twins 7-0 lead):
– 11 K's; his highest total in '19
– 42% CSW; his highest of '19
– 50% CSW on his CB pic.twitter.com/IL3b6HJioS

Berrios, on the other hand, is near the top. Berrios has a 2.80 ERA/3.61 FIP/1.10 WHIP. He has been stellar at home this year and his whole career. Berrios hasn’t given up more than 1 ER at home since May 13 against the Angels. Berrios is a guy I have trust in and fire this bet up for tonight!
Pick- Twins (f5)(-.5) -110
Rockies vs Astros (-210, 8)
Grienke is making his Astros debut at home against a Rockies team he very familiar with. In 349 PA (great sample size) he is only allowing a .233 average. This average is very impressive considering most of these games have been played at Coors or Chase Field (two hitter’s parks). He has allowed 9 HRs which is decent with the number of PA’s, but 5 of those HR’s have been to Trevor Story. If he can neutralize him, it may be tough to produce runs against him tonight. One of the Rockies’ best bats is going to be out for a few weeks (David Dahl) so consider that as we move forward with some of the lines for the Rockies.
Grienke may have some nerves, but he is a veteran and he should be ready to go tonight. Marquez left last game with extreme cramps, so this will be interesting to see how he rebounds tonight in Houston. The Rockies have a lot of moving parts with the Dahl injury, Wade Davis being moved to reliever and Scott Oberg moved to closer.
This is a great spot for Houston as they continue the playoff push, and the playoff push is basically over for the Rockies. Play the Astros run line tonight as they should be to manufacture 5-6 runs tonight.
Pick- Astros -1.5 (-115)
*Marlins vs Mets (-285, 8.5)
Late add as Hector Noesi was just announced as starting pitcher for the Marlins. I like the -1.5 RL tonight.
Pick- Mets -1.5 (-130)
